Lincoln Walsh had just such an insight. By cutting through the complexity and compromise of existing acoustic design theory, he touched upon the basic truths of sound reproduction and discovered how to create the perfect loudspeaker. In 1969, Lincoln Walsh was issued U.S. Patent No. 3424873 on his new concept--a concept so radically different that it's still the only speaker design currently available that can't be found in any known acoustic textbook.
After more than two years of extensive research and testing, we at Infinity have translated and extended the Walsh "perfect loud speaker" concept into the world's most perfect high frequency reproducer. We call it the wave transmission line tweeter, and we believe it heralds the beginning of a whole new era in sound reproduction.
By utilizing the Walsh design principle, a speaker can now be produced that finally achieves what acoustic engineers have for years considered the unattainable ideal--a perfectly coherent sound source. Acting like a pulsating cylinder, the Infinity wave transmission line tweeter is, like a laser beam, both spatially and temporally coherent--a fact no other speaker design can honestly claim. It is completely transient perfect--a fact no other speaker design can honestly claim. With frequency response that goes beyond 38 KHz, horizontal dispersion of 360° and vertical dispersion of 60°, the room coverage of all high frequency information is virtually perfect--a fact no speaker design can honestly claim.
